CORE ANSWER

Reconstitution means adding a suitable laboratory liquid, called a diluent, to freeze-dried (lyophilised) material so that it returns to solution.

Concentration depends on the amount of material and the final liquid volume. This guide covers laboratory concentration arithmetic, not dosing instructions.

01

Concentration: amount divided by final volume

When a defined amount of material is present in a defined final volume, concentration expresses how much material is present per unit of volume. [1]

The calculation should use consistent units and clearly distinguish the nominal vial amount from any separately measured peptide-content result.

02

Why the diluent matters

A research diluent must be compatible with the material and the intended analytical workflow. Solubility, pH, ionic strength, preservatives and downstream method requirements can all affect suitability.

A general website guide cannot determine compatibility for every compound, so material-specific laboratory documentation takes priority. ICH Q1A(R2) discusses stability testing after constitution or dilution; it does not validate a particular TBL diluent–material combination. [2]

03

Keep handling conditions controlled

  • Use clearly identified materials and containers
  • Keep calculations and units documented
  • Minimise unnecessary environmental exposure
  • Avoid cross-contamination
  • Record preparation date and relevant laboratory conditions

These are general research-handling principles rather than administration instructions.

04

Common arithmetic errors

  • Mixing up milligrams (mg), micrograms (µg) and millilitres (mL).
  • Treating the amount on the label as if it were measured peptide content.
  • Using the wrong final liquid volume in the calculation.

THAI BIO LABS provides a peptide calculator for laboratory concentration and volume arithmetic, alongside a research-material planner. Its U-100 diagram shows volume markings, not recommended doses or human-use instructions.

05

What reconstitution does not confirm

Dissolving a material does not establish molecular identity, purity, peptide content, sterility, endotoxin status or clinical suitability. Those remain separate analytical or process questions.

KEY PRINCIPLE

Reconstitution changes physical state and concentration. It does not change the evidentiary requirements for identity, purity, traceability or research-use boundaries.
